Can someone point me to a good resource for figuring out what dust collection equipment to buy and how to set it up? I work in my garage (unfinished and with no HVAC) and my dust/sawdust is out of control. I've looked at the DC gear at my local Woodcraft, but there is a lot of it and I get overwhelmed.

Keith, it is indeed overwhelming at times. PSI has a division with a catalog that can help in planning. In my opinion, the best collector on the market is an Oneida, but you may need to do a home loan to get it. I got lucky and stole one when a local shop went under, but it will suck small critters into it. Check PSI's site out, they have some good resources there.

Good luck,
Dale

You will find 2 Siamese cats shipped via Fex Ex arriving in a couple of days. Please feel free to verify that the unit can, in fact, actually suck in small critters. If you choose to return the cats, please remove any extra shavings, and postage will be at your own expense.

Who would NEVER REALLY do that to his kitties. Probably....

I have a coffee mug with the statement on it " CAT the other white meat ". My wife gave that to me but we love cat's though. My Blue tick hound adopted or cat when it was a kitten and the dog hated other cats.

Try reading some articles on Wood central. You can search their site or check the articles by category. Lots of good info on the basics of dust collection:

There is an article there on PVC vs metal ducting that discusses much more than just ducting. From these articles, I went on to design and build my own dc system.

Whatever you decide on getting go and get the best that money can buy ... I just don't think that you can go wrong ... maybe too big as in commercial size ... but get one that has alot of CFM's and a micron cannister for extra protection.
