When looked into getting a DC went to this site for basic information after seeing it recommended on various boards. After reading different sections gleaned enough information to buy figure out what to buy meeting my DC needs. Hope you find information useful.

Now price for good 1.5 HPDC for home workshop have really come down. Even the price of 1 micron bags more reasonable then back then. Back then finding US made 1 micron bags on sale for less than a $100 as a bargain. After reading about bags and recommendation from Bill, opted for a Wynne canister and think well worth the extra cost.

Dust Collection Research - Beginner's Corner

Back then Bill did not have an inspired designed & authorized cyclone you could buy. You can find several 1.5 HP cyclones for a home workshop on the market today selling for $1,000. Looking at specs not sure they beat what already have but they sure look nice.

Bill...great attachment! Thanks for sharing and safe turning to you always! We were just discussing this at this mornings woodcarving/woodturnng group and if you don't mind I will share with the group! Again, thanks for sharing and safe turning/carving to you!

Old Codger thanks for kind words and yes please share this attachment with everyone you know or meet.

Like most woodturners and to big degree wood carvers never seen a dust collector adept at taking away both dust & chips at the same time. Sadly no dust collector on the market is going to replace a broom, dust pan, or shop-vac in home workshop.

Know reading Bill Pentz's articles an arduous task but hope folks glean enough information to understand & improve their dust collection.

Bill...Thanks for allowing me to share your attachment... I still feel that my shop isn't dust safe even after having 2 Rikon dust scrubbers, a 20" box fan/w filter, a 2 HP dust collector w/cyclone and a 6 HP shop vac w/cyclone and hepa filter... My next venture will be to figure out how to duct my small shop/2 car garage out into the outside air in winter... I still worry about my and my families lungs being damaged by my hobby's dust... We ALL should be concerned about not only OUR lungs, but of our loved ones!!! SAFE turning to you all!
