I've been trading emails with someone who is selling this old beast. The price is good and he claims it is in good working order. I know that Dunlap is an old pre-Craftsman Sears brand name. Can someone tell me more about this machine and what should I be looking for when I go see it tomorrow?

If the headstock doesn't have a morse taper I wouldn't get it unless you want to turn it into a dedicated disk sander or buffer. On those older 'consumer' lathes, that is one of the primary things to look for.

I have an old PowerKraft (Montgomery Wards) lathe that has a 5/8-inch round shaft at the headstock. I wouldn't even try to turn pens on it. I've thought about trying to adapt the headstock to a Morse Taper, but for the price that you can get a reurbished Delta Midi lathe (~$200) or a new TurnCraft from PSI, I wouldn't even begin to mess with it.

Dang .... the date on that picture is from wayyyyyy in the future. My math shows it to be 208 years younger than we are today.

Sorry, I know nothing about it at all. Just list to the others here that will post some answers for you. The idea about the MT is dead on the money. :D
