Hey Dudley,
Just wondering how you're feeling after your lathe mishap a week or two ago?
Thank you again for posting details. We try to think about all the different things that can go wrong with our power tools, but the mandrel flaring out like yours did, due to centrifugal force or inertia, was not something that had occurred to me. It's something I think about all the time now, when preparing work to be turned at the lathe.
While searching for your thread, I also found this one from six years ago -- similar scenario.
Hope you're recovering nicely and back in the workshop...
