Duck Calls

I was wanting to start turning some duck calls as I have had someone ask me if I could make a few. Can I turn these between centers or do I need to buy the duck call mandrel. Any help on this would be great.

look at HUT products page, they sell some. I have not turned them but that was reccomended to me when I asked. Others may have a better idea or other places to get them.

check out CSUSA they have the add on's for a standard mandrel....

You almost need to have a mandrel or a pin mandrel... if you put them between centers, you have a lot of pressure on the inside of the drilled hole and I'm thinking that could split your blank.

I use the HUT mandrel with the rubber stoppers that expand to hold the blank and works just fine... I've seen a video of a turner that uses a pin mandrel held in a collet chuck... seemed to work great for him.
