Drying Green Walnut Crotch Pen Blanks

Chainsawed the center 2" of a walnut fork to make two bowl blanks, left with center slab of some crotch figure (on each side of the pith) about 1 1/4" wide. Anyone have experience bandsawing and drying crotch figure blanks without them curling into snakes?

Boil them for an hour. Let them cool in the water then into denatured alcohol for a couple days. Remove and place into a heavy brown paper bag to dry. I haven't done this with pen blanks but it works very well on bowls.
