I have an idea that would require a hole (maybe 3/32" or so) to be drilled through the centre of a SKM-192 Does anybody have any idea whether or not this is possible?

I'm not sure what you mean by "center" -- through the center radially or down the center along the axis? My understanding is that the SKM-192 and SKM-88 design/dimensions are similar other than the cup and button portions. There is a small ball that rolls in a channel. Doing anything that interferes with the ball in the channel will cause a problem. Also, the snap ring is necessary and the diameter of the slot is narrow, so drilling down the axis probably is not feasible. Here is a thread that I show the internals and dimensions of SKM-88 that might be helpful: https://www.penturners.org/threads/skm-88-dimensions.168348/

The shaft of the SKM-192 has a maximum diameter of 0.125" ( my calipers are on it "as we speak" )

The groove that the ball rides in takes the available room for drilling down from that. . That groove is multi-directional.

3/32" = 0.09375". 0.5 * ( 0.1250 - 0.9375 ) = 0.015625" wall thickness at the widest part after drilling.

Not likely to be successful, I would say .... unless your axial hole is required only above the portion grooved for the ball ....
.... but then you run into some circumferential grooving intended only for the non-critical function of retaining the pushbutton (not supplied).

If you could take the drill size down to 5/64" or less, you might stand a chance.

I should have written ....

3/32" = 0.09375". ..... 0.5 * ( 0.1250 - 0.09375 ) = 0.015625" wall thickness at the widest part after drilling.

C'mon, Chris .... give it a try with a #50 drill = 0.0700" !!! ..... Wall thickness of 0.0275" .... might do it !!!

You didn't actually say what diameter hole you absolutely need or want.

Somewhat Off Topic:

If a hole can be drilled axially through pencil lead, surely a hole can be drilled through the center (axially) of an SKM-192! 😉
