I bought a drill chuck with a m2 taper shank. When It came the shank was separate from the chuck.

Do I just hand press the tapered shank into the chuck, or does it need to be machine pressed?

Thanks.

The Drilling Chuck looks like a "Most to Have Tool"

The Update made to my shop was a 46-460 Delta Lathe
and using a Wood River 3 hands chuck is not the best combination or setting to have

Using the Wood River Chuck in combination with the Pin Jaws I was very impress with the results of using this chuck and pin jaws as a drilling Chuck

I did a Correlation between my drill press and the Wood River / Pin Jaws setting and the results
Are similar or I will say the same

Pleas provide feedback in regards your drilling chuck

+1 for the clean. Make sure to get all the shipping gunk off both tapers, the one in the chuck and the one that fits the chuck. DAMHIKT You can add a very light coating of thin lube, WD40 or like.

A taper fit should be wrung together. Make sure the mating surfaces are clean, undamaged, and without lubricant (very important if you want the joint to *stay* together). Then bring the two together smartly while rotating them slightly in opposite directions. This ensures the parts mate solidly and in proper alignment.
