Hello all...I've not posted here in a while. My job has been taking alot of my time....just happy to have one these days.

I was wondering if anyone has a list of the most common drill bit sizes for Pen Making. I'm making a list for a purchase of some Norseman drill bits and want to make sure I have all I need...especially the metric sizes.

Longshot maybe but thought I'd ask.

Hutproducts has a listing in their catalog. A good reference. Woodcraft.com also has a listing for all their pen kits they sell. Check them out.

Ken,
This is a list I picked up off either the IAP or The Pen shop.. one of our members put together the list of pen kits with the bits and bushings... might help.

The file is too big to upload as a single file... you'll have to copy the second part and paste it to the end of the first to get put the file back together.

That's a reall outstanding and comprehensive list. My hat is off to the creator.

Fantastic list!

For the spreadsheet challenged, I've done two things. First if you don't have Microsoft Office or would like to upgrade and don't want the expense, consider this suite: http://www.openoffice.org/

This was started by Sun Microsystems but lives now as open-source. Very good, I use it over Office most of the time. It can read and write DOC and XLS files but its own format is more compact. So find attached to this posting and ODS file (OO's spreadsheet) which is both halves recombined.

Second, Windows XP and Vista handle the ZIP file compression pretty well so I made an XLS version (at 187K uncompressed) but once compressed is only 33K.

Both files are stuck into the same ZIP file as this BBS is not set up to handle arbitrary file extensions. Hope I didn't make this too confusing.

Nope, but your use of the term "BBS" has dated you.

Thanks for the file!

I always knew it as Bulletin Board System, and I used to connect to them with my 300 baud external modem.

Any volunteers that would help?

This could be combined into Daniel's penlist that is started as a google doc collaboration. If you are interested in viewing that file or adding to it send me a PM with your email and I will invite you in.

Daniel should be able to invite as should Greg O'Sherwood as well.

It needs some updating and with a community we can keep it more current and with all the information people might want to know about pen kits. Such as drill bit size, action, refill type, supplier, MSRP etc.
