Well, you win some, you lose some......
The good news is, the lid of the Gentlemen pen is great, and im very pleased with it.
Although the creation of this pen has been cursed to say the least
1) drilling out to 14.5mm gradually, naturally the metal became pretty hot. While not paying attention i burned my finger tip touching the piece while changing drill bits.
2) a tiny drop of acid managed to get on to the back of my hand. not bad considering my gloves come up half way of my arms
... acid burn treated with alkali to take the sting out of it.
3) while adding the final piece of decoration to this piece, it slipped in the chuck on the mill and made a few scratches to it. Not an issue at this point... as i decided to chuck it up in the lathe and use a parting off tool to create a band around it to remove the scratches to the anodised layer. To prevent damaging the finish, it was tightened lightly with a slip of paper around it, and knowing the possible outcome of doing this, i moved in with the parting tool very, very lightly. Didn't do too bad.. made about half the depth i needed to until the chuck decided to spit out the part mangling it on the way and causing me to slice the back of my thumb. never mind my thumb... with anodising time the part which has been written off took the best part of 5 hours. Just one of those things i guess!
Annnnd thats enough for one night me thinks. I will redo this part in the morning. As for its sale.. well i will be keeping this one. Its put me through too much now to part with it lol
