Does pink ivory stay pink?

This pen was turned and finished with CA about 9 years ago.

Keep in mind that has not seen much use, nor has it been exposed to any sunlight, but it might help give you some perspective.

I turned some small boxes for my wife and daughter years ago out of pink ivory. The wood is still pink, but not a glowing. On the outside anyway. I believe they have a shellac finish on them.

Pic was taken October 2012, and they haven't changed color much since then. I turned them over 10 years ago. Wish I'd written the date on them now.

I have quite a bit of pink ivory in my wood colection and have turned many pens from it. Even the unfinished bare wood is as pink as when I bought it ten or so years ago. The pens have not dulled after many years, but they stay in the case and are not exposed to sunlight. Most of my older pens have a three part wax finish, which seems to hold up well and is easy to rebuff to a luster shine if needed. Jim S
