Not sure if you are serious or joking. I do not think our little 3/4" x 5" piece of wood is going to make a difference. I think we all can live without for sure. Pen making is a hobby and not a valuable commodity. So much more going on with shortages in all aspects of the world. Some I believe are being exploited to make up for loss revenue over the past year.

I highly highly suggest if any vendor worth the salt raises prices in pen blanks of any sort because of this pandemic should be boycotted for life and starved out of the business and that includes anyone selling on this forum. Shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
No. This is a supply vs demand thing for n the construction lumber/commodity market side.

I doubt there were any big swings in either supply or demand on the pen blank side.
 
If your asking our opinion I'll give you mine. Although I do agree with the above statements I'm going to add my twist. I think the world is overcome by greed or take advantage of a time to make a buck. I'll leave the last comment up to the individual. I think the lumber industry as a whole no matter what type of lumber they deal with is going to use whatever reason to bump the prices. Of course I do realize the covid issues may have and probably did have a role of some sort I just have my doubts about the actual issue versus the rise in cost.
 
I think that imported lumber would have already risen in price if it were going to substantially.
building supply lumber wont come down until the demand decreases. When they are sitting on a supply the prices will drop.
the price of ammunition increased 5x and has stayed that way for more than a year. It is just now starting to drop. Same deal, a warehouse full of product will always bring the prices down.
