A local aquarist loves her discus fish, and asked for a portrait on a disc - why not?
Another mud-turning opportunity.
Steps:
Ball of stoneware clay flattened into a disk shape on a slowly turning pottery wheel - out to 3/8" thickness.
Dried x 24 hours until leather-hard.
Fish portrait drawn from life with a toothpick (only one of us got wet).
Underglaze-painted.
Dried in a warm room for 1 week.
Bisque fired.
Glazed with various colors.
Clear zinc-free final glaze over top.
Final fired at cone 6 = 2269 degrees Fahrenheit, annealed in the kiln overnight.
Wooden mounting hardware glued on the back with E6000.
Fish fancier and fish seem happy.
And Happy Wednesday to all - Bob
