Has anyone tried cutting cloth with a diode laser like the NEJE ones? I have a K40 I'll be experimenting with today but wondered about the lower powered diode units. I'm especially curious about cotton, wool and felt.

I don't know anything about the laser but my wife does get some quilting design packs where the fabric pieces which are precut by laser.

Hope this helps

There are quite a few youtube videos on the subject.
I've checked you tube but haven't seen anything on using a diode laser for cloth cutting.

I tried cotton and felt with my K40 today. The felt did better than the cotton but I think they'll both work if I add air assist to my machine.
Would still like to know about using a diode laser. If those work I might get one so SWMBO can use it and not tie up mine. :smile:

Tim;
I just tried it on a piece of white cotton.
The white of course reflects too much and will not burn.
Tried to use a black marker but it would still not burn.
Tried a piece of the plastic film used for laser cutting metal.
While that received the burn by way of melting it, it did nothing to the underlying cotton.
