I am happy and honored to have been asked to be a demonstrator at the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) Virtual Symposium. I will be doing a rotation entitled "Differentiating Yourself In The World Of Penmaking". The event will be July 17 and 18, 2021 (Pen making is scheduled for July 17 (1:25 pm CST)). I personally cannot wait to see some of the demonstrations - these are great demonstrators and topics for all woodturners.

Registration can be found at:

I plan to cover:
General Pen Making
Differentiating Wood Pens (Finishing / Coloring / Tinting / Segmenting / Stabilization)
Differentiating Acrylic Pens (Coloring / Segmenting / 3D Printing)
Casting (Label Casting or Steampunk Penny form the April Issue of the AAW Magazine)

Let me know what you think. Hope to "see you there".

Mark

@mg_dreyer

Thanks for letting us know, Mark.

Just one thing about your post above .....

.... in the line: "Casting (Label Casting or Steampunk Penny form the April Issue of the AAW Magazine)" ...

.... is there a typo ? .... I don't quite get the part ... "Steampunk Penny form the April Issue" ... in particular, the word " form " .

And " Penny " .... is that the name of a person ?

It's a typo Mal. Should read "from". Mark was featured on the cover of The AAW's last issue of their American Woodturner Magazine on how to use a crushed penny from Disney in a steampunk pen casting. I had never seen it done anywhere prior to him (which is rare in this field). very worthy of their cover!

Congrats Mark! Can't wait to see the demo!

OK, thanks John ! . I thought that. . But I was also confused by the " Penny ", and now you have clarified that also. . Maybe I should get AAW magazine and then I would understand that part as well !!

EDIT: I found, online, the AAW article by Mark Dreyer, and the magazine cover picture referred to by @JohnU. . Here is link ....
