Thursday on my way home from work I stopped at Rockler. They asked if I would do a demo on pen turning. I agreed and so Saturday I gave a 2 1/2 hour demo. Several people watched the whole time. I asked the manager if they wanted me to do a friction polish and to my surprise they said NO. They wanted a CA finish, so that is what I did. I think they sold 2 new lathes while the demo was going on and I even had 2 older guys stay and talk for about 1/2 hour after I was done. I really enjoyed myself and would not hesitate to do another one if asked. Russell

Thats great...Sounds like they need to give you a whole bunch of free stuff because you just made them thousands in sales over the next months.

I have to say that the quality of a product speaks for itself. I went to a local place and one of the workers saw one of my pens and inquired about how I did the finish...so I took him around the store and we got everything he needed to do the CA finish. Of course, I also sent him over to youtube to watch my video on how I do mine.

Hey grub, the guy at Rockler did the same thing. They saw a few of my pens and decided they wanted a demo and wanted the Ca finish because the other people that did demos didn't do that type of finish. Anyhow it was fun and I think that they will do more sales in the future. It is nice to help other people. They did give me some bench cookies and a coffee mug that has a hammer head for a handle, pretty cool. thanks for the comment. Russell

Sounds like it was great for a lot of people. You had fun, Rockler made a lot of money, and a few other people are were introduced to pen turning. Well in a way I guess we should feel sorry for the new turners. Soon they will be addicted and be missing a lot of money LOL.
