On Saturday our local wood turning group ( Endless Mountain Turners ) had the pleasure of having Kurt Hertzog do a all day demo for us. He did a very fine presentation. His focus for the day was on sharpening, tools, and form and finish of bowls and lidded boxes but he and I also had a few side discussions on pens.
He is a great guy, is very knowledgeable, and he is a fine teacher. If you ever get a change to attend one of his events I would highly recommend it.
In case you have not heard of him, Kurt writes two regular feature columns for Woodturning Design Magazine and a series for Woodturning Magazine. He is one of the five Council Members of the Pen Makers Guild, and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Woodturners. He was also one of the judges for the Best Of IAP contest in 2012.
