I have an older Delta 10" band saw. Recently the drive gear on the blade guide split. This is the gear that raises and lowers the guide when the knob on the outside is turned. I cannot find the part anywhere. Does anyone know of some obscure place I might look?

OR try a local machine shop to have one machined. Or a local Trade or Technical school. Some High Schools even have well equipped machine shops that should be capable to turning out a new gear for you. Pretty simple: Turn a blank to size on the lathe and then cut the gear on the milling machine using a dividing head.

I tried Mikes Tools and ereplacementparts and both listed the gear as obsolete. Thanks for the help. Looks like I might have to get one made.

The company that bought Delta is not making replacement parts for existing Delta machinery - they're building their own designs instead. Your only fix is to get piece custom fabricated or rig a different mechanism. I went through the same thing when my Delta lathe broke. I couldn't get parts so I wound up junking it. For that reason, I won't buy Delta brand again.

Good luck,
Eric
