I recently got a "gently used/New 2 me" Delta 46-460. :biggrin::biggrin: Love it.

I turn off my back deck and have a bench set up for my other lathes to sit on. I carry out my lathe when I want to turn.
This Delta is a bit big and Im getting very tired of draging the lathe out with the stand and was wondering if there are any casters available for the tool and stand?:confused:

I dont think Im the only one who has to move their lathes around and was wondering what other ideas I could borrow from you fine folks.

Thanks Turners

I used to turn off my back deck too... unfortunately mine wasn't covered so I finally got tired of battling the elements and converted our home office into a turning room... but as far as your question - you could make a 2X4 and plyboard construction base for your stand and attach any off-the-shelf casters to it or (lesser desired option for me) you could drill holes through the stand at the end of each foot and put some hardware store casters on it.

you may check at Habor Freight, they have a great selection of casters. you could get some that lower when you want to move and raise up when you want your lathe to stay in place.
