Well it didn't look like much and I guess it all depends were you are but we got soaked 14" rain so far and power out for 12 hours. I am luckier than others, down the street houses are under 2 feet of water. There's bin several tornados in the area. We had a lot wind the power line came down in front of the house 8 PM last night it was like a war zone. Cops fire tucks and power co. trucks in my front yard all night. Needless to say I didn't get any sleep. We had lots of storms before and didn't think much of this one but then again it all depends were you are.

Sometimes the "little" tropical storms can be much more devastating than a full blown hurricane when they are slow moving and drop rain measured in feet rather than inches. Not to mention the tornadoes they can spawn.
Bruce, I hope all goes well for you and you don't get much damage.

My son went to Disney .... got the money back for tickets and on way back home.... what a bummer. hope all the folk down there make out alright.

luckily I went to Ft lauderdale from Michigan, where it is fabulouse!! I was ready to hit the button to go to the panhandle, glad I didn't. Had really good weather today. Hope things improve for you today and in the days to come.

Usually these things are here today gone tomorrow.
BUT this this is moving SO SLOOOOW.
Could be 2 more days before it's out of here.
The worst rain they say is over close to 15" yesterday.
The wind & banding is still going to continue a few days.
There's a lot of cleaning up to do around here.
With these things it's hit & miss 2 blocks away they got wiped out rite here not so bad.
I had that transformer blow up in the middle of night in my front yard. It was like a nuclear bomb going off very scary.
We're just not used to ALL DAY rain. this will be a memory soon.

We have to be the luckiest in Florida. Our house is situated far enough inland, that the really heavy stuff went either west, or east of us. Just wet, and a little windy. But, tornado watches all night, and all day today.

But not always a good memory... sounds like "Shades of Allison" that hit Houston a few years back... non stop rain for 3 days... we had semi's floating down the I10, I left work with 18" of water in the parking lot and it took me nearly 20 hours to get home, and another two days to get my car home... I got about 1/3 the way home and decided to pull into what I thought was a church parking lot... turned out to be a funeral home... flooded out my car and had to push it into the lot with the help of 4 gentlemen from the funeral home who were sitting up with a body...

Since you're home, hunker down and wait it out... hope you and all your family and neighbors are safe... now if we could figure a way to get some of that rain out west, Colorado could use a good soaking.

This storm is a pain I have been through a bunch been here 16 years. It's moving so slow. We had in some spots get 2 feet of rain. I have been lucky I am high enough I don't flood but I am surrounded by water. ALL the rivers are flooded major coastal flooding the winds are coming on shore. Just going to the Post Office was a chore. The Skyway Bridge has been closed since Sunday over 3 days. That's our main big bridge over the Tampa Bay it's 60 plus miles to go around. I don't use it thank God.

Life here is moving at a very slow pace. My wife has some major medical problems and just getting to Doctors is a pain in the butt.

Just to summarize I am a lot better off than others just some inconveniences. When others have lost everything due to flooding.

We were without power most of yesterday and had heavy rains but very little of it is staying. I live in the wetlands and we should have standing water in the ditches out front by now. We just barely had any after yesterday. In a normal wet season where I live I should have close to 30 inches of water on the south end of my property and about 4 inches out the back yard of standing water. Last year was a dry year as well.

Those of us that do diaster response for a living are watching...so little coverage for a monster storm! Keep your head down dude...we are ready to rock assuming the prez hits the button
