anyone having a deal on lathe chucks? need something in the 5" range, the larger one. one on my jet is too small to turn peppermills on as i start w/2.5-3" square blanks. now that i have my $100 antique lathe i need a bigger chuck than the 3" vic mark on the jet. thanks

Instead of buying a whole new chuck you could buy larger jaws for the chuck you have. Or, you could use a steb center and turn a tenon on the peppermill blank to fit your current chuck.

Of course, if your like me, this is just an excuse to buy another tool.:D;)

John,
I use the PSI Utility Grip.. CUG3418C to turn my pepper mills... I start between centers until I get the blank round, then switch to the chuck for drilling and final turning... I drill first, then use jam chucks in the ends.. both end.. to do final shapes... The PSI chuck is about $80 in the current catalog.
