On late Christmas evening, I was asked to sit down on the couch and close my eyes. I complied per my two son's and my wife's request. When I was allowed to open my eyes...attached is a picture of what I saw. My son, David aka OldReg recently joined IAP. From what I have pieced together, David without my knowledge contacted Dawn or Dawn and Ed and together they helped him come up with my Christmas gift basket. I was stunned to say the least. There were Dawn's magical blanks, Jeff Powell's blanks, Curtis's blanks, Laser Cut kits, Jungle **** feathers, pen kits....etc etc.....anyway you can see. I know he spent some money on my gift but somehow I think there was more to the "freebie" than what was just labeled. My son's not talking per an agreement that he made with ??...I think the Princess.. The point is that I could not come up with words to describe to my family and Ed and Dawn for making this such a great Christmas. It has been a privilege to be a member of IAP and to get to know all of you. Thank you all so very much!
Warmest regards to all of you,
HAPPY NEW YEAR,
Respectfully,
Doc:smile:

Let me be the first to say CONGRATULATIONS!!
And WOW!!!
The family sure knows what will make you happy!!!
That is going to keep you busy for quite some time!!!

Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year!!

Andrew

That is an extremely cool way to do a present for someone I would imagine is described as already having everything. I'm really happy for you. Mine came early when Dad brought a lathe over, along with about 30 slimline kits, a box of blanks, the stuff that became redundant from his shop upgrade, and CA. I've probably turned around 45 pens on it in the couple of months I've had it. Sold a few, but that's not my primary motivation.

Great news Doc. This means you're going to have to continue to keep getting up extra early to turn though! :)

I'm innocent on this one, Doc. I was busy with a couple others.

But, yes Dawn and David conspired!!!

We really enjoy being part of our friends' Christmas planning!!! And we have the advantage of knowing a little about your turning skills and the level of blanks you can "handle". Like Santa, we can "Know if you turn bad or good!!" And for you---good it is!!!

Merry Christmas, to all our friends!! Feel free to contact us next year if you need help in planning again!!

I got a Christmas gift that came from Exotics and it brought tears to my eyes, too! Of course, it was a pepper mill, but it still brought tears:).

Doc,
Thanks for sharing your happiness Dawn and Ed, David et al. The cooperation with everyone was reward indeed for your kindness to others.

In two weeks time I will put together a small parcel of Aussie goodies.

All the best and happy birthday Dawn and seasons greetings to Ed as well.

Kind regards Peter.

Dawn, Ed....
I smell a business opportunity in Gift Baskets for all of us from our spouses? How about Bridal Registry for the discerning Pen Maker? I see many possiblities that we ALL could get behind!!!

Doc, I wish I could take some of the credit, but this was all David.

He came up with the idea, picked out the blanks.. I must say you really have one heck of a young man there!! I see some quality shop time in your futures!

Thank you the kind words and happiness that all of you expressed in sharing my joy! I feel blessed to have a family who loves me as they encourage and support my endeavors. I appreciate so much the friends or more accurately, extended family that I have made on IAP. Thanks to all of you who have helped me develop and cultivate my passion for penmaking, your words of encouragement and challenge to develop further. It is my hope that each of you are blessed through the holidays and throughout the coming year with peace and happiness.
With warm regards,
Doc:smile:

P.S. To Dawn and David....a Special Thank You....and, per Ed, both of you are so busted .
