I finally got it, set it up and turned a couple pens today. I will try to turn a bowl tomorrow, a small one

I don't have a digital camera yet, but thats my next purchase, that is if I can quit buying all the wonderful wood that is offered[][][8D]

Good to hear that you got it set up...hope you are happy with it.
I love the VS feature and power of it compared to non VS mini.
If you saw the bowl I just turned, you can turn that size actually on the 1236. Not sure if you remember but the burl cap that I used was on the table when we were disassembling your lathe. I've turned one bigger mesquite bowl on that 1236 before.
BTW, this "hobby" wasn't termed the VORTEX for nothing...it is endless I tell you. [}]
