Had a little mishap monday. I was retrieving some blanks from the top shelf. Ladder was leaned against my lumber rack. I was 3 steps up the ladder and over reached. The bottom went out from under me, and down we went. I tore my rotated cuff big time and scraped the hell out of my right side and under arm. Spent 3 hours in the emergency room and got some killer pain meds. Making serpentine blanks just came to a halt. I can probably kiss motorcycle riding good by this year as well. It was totally my fault.

Are the Blanks OK...lol Terry glad you are not hurt to bad.... i know it sucks but on the bright side you are alive . A old friend of mine did not fair so well, he was only 2 more steps up than you when the ladder kicked out down he went broke his neck. get well soon

Next time ......NO SHORT CUTS.....open the laddler completely.

Glad that nothing worse happened. Behave yourself and listen to the doctor.
You might just get a ride in towards the end of August with a little luck.
Until then......kepp you feet on the ground.

That's bad news. Sorry to hear about it.

I took a hard hit on my shoulder about a month ago snowboarding. Going to the doc on Wednesday to get it checked out. Sounds like it might be a labrum tear.

Hope for a speedy recovery for you

Sorry to hear about your accident .... that's going to keep you grounded for a while but I hope not too long. I do know that the rotator cuff is a slow heal so I am feeling your pain somewhat. I was just getting ready to order a ton of serpentines !!

Terry, very sorry to hear about your mishap. Hope you heal quickly and well. Keep your chin up.

Sorry to hear about this, but you are fortunate that all the injuries will heal in time.
Rest easy & have a speedy recovery.

If rotator cuff surgery is in your future, beware! My boyfriend just went through it in January. Pain subsided, somewhat, just this week. It is pure hell to go through it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I would want you to be prepared.

Feel better!

I supervised safety for USPS in my first career and one of the things we constantly taught was "Speed Kills". That is true whether driving a vehicle or failure to secure a ladder properly. We should all remember that and always take the time to be safe. Glad you survived with only a damaged shoulder. Head injuries are much worse. Take the time to find a good orthopedic surgeon and then work as hard as you can in the rehab.

Please don't cuss the ladder for your bad moves! I'm sorry that you are requiring rotator cuff surgery; lots of pain, especially the stretching, but the more you can maintain the rigorous exercises, the less time it will take to fully heal.

Terry,
Sorry to hear about you fall. Hope you mend quickly.

I was painting the other day, and took the easy way out and grabbed an old lightweight wooden ladder I have in my shop. I typically only go up a step or two on it in my shop. When I went up up the ladder while painting, and leaning a bit to reach the corners at ceiling height, it was really rickety. I quit, and dragged my Little Giant into the house. They are heavy, but incredibly stable. I guess I lucked out this time.

Highly recommended, and really versatile in the way you can adjust them.

So sorry to hear about your accident. I hope you heal quickly and that you are wrong about not being able to ride at all this summer...that's worse than having to sit in the corner at pie time at grandma's house.

Take care...

Wow, sorry to here that Terry. It's one crazy ride falling like that! I lost my balance hauling out garbage at James' last week, and had to twist and jump off the loading dock to avoid the fall. I couldn't believe I was lucky enough to come out with no problems. Plenty scared for a bit, until I knew there was no pain. Heal quickly!!!!!! How long are they telling you to ride the couch since the bike is out?

Haven't said yet. See the doc Monday to find out if it's surgery or therapy.
