I have several small to medium cedar trees behind my house. Some of them have been down for over a year.I have been using some of it to make some pretty nice pens.I would like to know what is the most efficient way would be to cut blanks out of sections of it.In the past, I have used a "super blank cutter".It worked ok for a while it dulled to fast.I tried a band saw and had too much waste. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I made a sled for my bandsaw and it works very well. It is patterned from this one; http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1115285#post1115285. The main thing is to keep a good sharp blade in the saw and do not push the cut. If the cut is forced, the cut tends to wander a bit. I currently have about 150 good cedar blanks lying around and have turned about that many more, all from back yard trees.
