Cub Scout Penturning

Had a Cub Scout Den over at my shop today, everyone turned a pen to take home. I'll do the paperwork for AAW Youth Turning program and get them diplomas, I think they also get a Craftsman Merit Badge

That is Terrific. I am planning on doing the same thing with my son's den. How old were the boys in your den? I have bought some acrylic blanks that were the blue and yellow color for the cub scouts. I have made several pens for the leaders but I want the boys to make one for themself also.

Like most folks with no kids, I have no clue how old kids are! I think the pack is rotating older dens through my annual offer, so I guess 10 or 11

Great job! The next generation of turners need to be exposed to our craft by us. There are so few places that teach woodworking any more.

That is awesome! I am sure they will remember that experience for a long time, and perhaps some will continue woodworking/turning.

It's always fun having them over for some turning. This time was 7 of them, last year was two dens, and 13 of them
