Just a quick rant about myself! I've been having problems with remaking a blank and it's getting to me finally! I have my 5th attempt in the toaster oven now so I'm hoping it'll be perfect so I can complete a fairly large order (pics to come soon btw). I'm certain this weather is the culprit so I warmed everything up prior to pouring. Now I have to figure out what to do with 16 worthless blanks...hmmm....brain is churning:hypnotized:

How "worthless" is worthless? Not appropriate for the order or unusable?
There are people who accept donations to the Pens for Service Members and Pens for Peacekeepers ... just a thought.
 
Both actually. I wouldn't let these go to a customer at all, and they aren't really usable. I think a picture would help with how they came out. However, since they are bookmatched I'm gonna try squaring them up on the bottoms and glue them together and then mill it into a hopefully usable blank and see what happens from there.

As cold as it is here right now, pouring PR is difficult. It really likes 75 degrees and when it is 20 degrees outside, it is difficult (and expensive) to keep the workshop warm enough to cure the PR.

Good luck! I'm having the same issues. It is supposed to be warm in the South. This afternoon it was colder in South Georgia than Racine, WI
 
I didn't have any problems in the winter, but with the set-up I had, the blanks were out of the molds in 57 mins. and in the basement stacked and ready to turn.
It was the same in the summer as well.

yea this 10 degrees just isn't what I want right now. I have been casting like crazy and haven't had any issues except for this particular blank. Dunno why, but it's been a bear to get right. I know i'm not overloading with pigment and the resin is warm. It's just one of those things:devil:
 
Here's a photo of the bad blanks. You can kinda see what I'm talking about with them being bookmatched and the glue up process to make a usable blank. I'll be cutting up the latest cast in a few and i have my fingers crossed!
