Crazy things found in mailboxes

Being from the South and a little Mischievieous finding things in mailboxes(or placingthem there) is nothing new to me. Ever since I got into this pen business I find strange things stuck in mine from time to time. No big deal. Yesterday I found a set of Antelope horns, First pair I have ever seen or touched.......Soooo now I am gonna see if I can make a pen with them:biggrin:. Any word from you professionals on the matter.

Plus what have you found weird in your mailbox?

Use your new carbide tool on these pen blanks. You will not regret your choice, but be prepared with the "stench" that will be emitted.

All I ever 'find' in my mailbox is bills that I must pay.

I think you are going to be disappointed in using this size of horns.
I don't want to say that they are hollow, but they are NOT the same thing as antler.
 
Ah I figure if I get a piece large enough for a slimline, I MAY buy a sliver pen parts kit and put it on it. It would be one of those combinations I have never seen done. If not I have another idea that would be fun to do. takes alot of expoxy though.
 
Drilling update.

I managed to get a piece large enough that it will be a Jr Staesman. Providing I don't destroy it along the way. I also have enough for a nice slim or trim line kit. So it may be squirreled away for the possibility of a silver kit. I have the upper barrel drilled and am half way through the lower. If I am careful I will have some bark left showing. I like what I am seeing of it so far.
 
Antelope horns are different from antlers. It actually hair that is fused together and they are not dropped every year like the antlers are but continue to grow in size. For taxidermy, the sheath has to be removed from the inner core to remove any living tissue from the core or you will get some pretty bad stink. The black sheath is usually pretty thin.

These look pretty old and the core may be dried out and not stinky - good luck
