Correct tool to turn lead

I have now turned 60 of these lead heads using a parting tool and a square carbide pen turning tool. I turn these on center and once I get to this point and glue up the wood and brass - the rest is easy.

I am sure this works, but I am also sure that there must be a better tool to shape lead. Please let me know what you would use and thanks in advance for your help.

I just have to say.. seems like you are talented at what you do and probably the expert on doing what you are. We could most certainly learn from you.

Looks to me like your technique is working well for you. Can't argue with success. I would hope that you are using a respirator when turning the lead (or melting it for that matter).

Yes I try to protect my respiratory system and use gloves too. I buy the sinkers from a vendor so molten lead is not an issue.

There must be a tool just to turn metal that is robust.

I would thing any of your turning tools would work fine as they are much harder than the lead.
