Well, you've all convinced me to put aside my EEE and my Shellawax and after this whole week of reading these finishing threads and taking things into consideration I've decided to give the Enduro a try. I'm also giving the plexi a try too. I have some disolving now. I'll choose one of those ultimately.
Here's the question though: I've made about 30-40 pens using the EEE followed by the Shellawax. (and I do now see that Shellawax finish deteriorating). If I wanted to drop back and give all those pens the Enduro treatment how do you think I should go about that? I have no problem with knocking each pen apart if I have to in order to redo them.
I'm thinking that all I need to do is to sand through the Shellawax then do the MM pads then the Enduro treatment. But that's just a guess which is why I'm asking you guys. (and girls of course)
Do you think that acetone would rub off the Shellawax?

Thanks all

Alcohol is the solvent of choice with shellac finishes. Mineral spirits to help be sure the wax is removed would be good. I tend to follow a strip with a light sanding with 600 grit or so --

This presumes that the metal/wood fit is good.

If you like the EEE there's no need to stop using it, but you might change your
routine a bit.
The EEE is great as a cutting paste, but it might interfere with other finishes. You can
use it to get the high shine that EEE is known for, then take the wax back off with
some mineral spirits before putting on your final finish.
EEE also works well for a 'rub out' once your finish is cured. I think the abrasive in it
is rottenstone and it will put a great shine on other cured finishes besides Shellawax.

Perhaps Neil can chime in here? He makes the stuff..

I appreciate the replies. They help a bunch.
Jack, I think I hear you saying the EEE is also a wax. (shows what a dummy I am about these products). So, sand, go ahead and use the EEE then hit it with spirits to get the EEE wax off, then do the Enduro. And if I'm correct again, you're saying that using the EEE even after the Enduro cures can even give a better shine yet.
Well, I've even gone ahead and ordered the Beall system which hasn't gotten here yet. I understand that I don't want to use the Tripoli at this point of the finish because it would be going backwards, but what about the other two? The white diamond and the carnauba. Are they going to enhance the shine further or at this point is that still going backwards? Yep, a lot of questions, I know.
