Hi all,

Next month I will be in Philadelphia for a couple of days. I am considering a site visit to PSI which will likely require me to rent a car for the excursion. I'd like to hear from anyone that has made such a site visit.

Worth the trip?

I went to PSI and picked up my dust collector about year and a half ago. The building that houses the warehouse and offices is in an industrial area and does not have a showroom or any public access to speak of. They do have a retail store which was located a few miles from the warehouse. I wasn't in to turning pens at the time so I don't recall how much pen inventory they had at the store. I did pick up some dust collection parts at the store and a few tools. I also recall they had quite a bit of closeout inventory for sale. If your in the area I would recommend you check it out.

There is a link to info about the store. http://www.pennstateind.com/store/retail-store-help.html

I have visited the retail store. It is not at all like a Woodcraft or Rockler. There are pen kits, blanks, and accessories on display. However, it is more of an afterthought to their mail order business than a stand alone retail store. Thar said I will visit again when I am in the area.

By the way the store is located a little off the main road. If you use a GPS you may have to look closely when you reach your destination.

I visited it a few months ago -and will go again. It was fun looking around. Check out their wood bargain bin (you might have to ask where it is). Search the posts for threads about others that have visited (I have one from my trip).

I am heading up to the area next week and am going to stop by the store as well.

I need a few things plus wanting to see a few of their newer kits.

Flying up a bit early on purpose to go to the store before heading to the job site.

I haven't been there in about a year, but at the time they had specials that were in store only and were pretty good deals to boot. There is penty to look at, just not a shiny show room. The staff was pretty friendly as well.
Ditto on the hard to find comment. ;)

I have been there. It isn't a fancy high tech retail outlet, but more of the older outlet style. Check Google maps for photos of the street. You can see actual photos that look like you are driving down the street!

Hey guys. PSI does not have a brick&mortar store. The store front you all mentioned is MLCS Woodworking. They are located on Philmont Ave. a few miles away. They have an consignment agreement with PSI and carry a lot of their products. Most folks think they are the same company because they use to ship their catalogs together. I live about 30 minutes from the MLCS store and have been there many times. Like others have said...it's not a Woodcraft. I do think it's worth a visit if you're in town. They have a ton of router and shaper bits, as well as other miscellaneous woodworking stuff at decent prices. All of the PSI penkits they sell are on display as completed pens.

If you don't mind me asking, what part of Phila. will you be visiting?
