I recently purchased an Acer notebook so I can surf the web on the porch instead of the basement. I had also recently updated my router to a wireless version. So, when I got the notebook I thought I was all set.
However, for the first few days the signal seemed weak and pages would often not load. I had all but decided that I needed a different wireless router that would send the signal farther.
Then, after much searching and reading and fiddling with settings, I discovered the problem. Turns out it was the firewall in McAfee. Turned that off and all is great. This thing rocks!
So, why do these manufacturers put trial software on these things that cause problems? I didn't upgrade or change any hardware so it was a problem from the start as I think it would have had the same effect on any router. I will soon be dumping the trial stuff for Avast anyway.
Oh and BTW, a wireless mouse is the cat's meow!
