The easiest way to remove them is to not get them in the first place . Most malicious software is brought into your computer in infected email . Attachments are the #1 way to infect a computer and people open attachments without thinking about it . The attachment usually comes from someone who you know and trust , the problem is that this person don't know they are spreading the virus . I don't open attachments , PERIOD . I don't run any anti virus software and can count on one hand the number of time I have gotten a virus , one time was on purpose and the others were from going places I shouldn't have gone .
To get rid of the virus/malicious soft wear goto http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and download the free version . You can also get a free anti virus for windows from Microsoft . Read about what a bot-net is and download their Security Essentials anti virus software suite . It's one of the better Free Anti virus Suites and gives reasonable protection http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/safety/technologies/bots.mspx
Malwarebytes is good as Butch said but one called Combofix.org is better imho. Are you sure it is a virus or spyware? If you download either of these most spware will block it so you need to save it under a different name before running it.
You can get combofix at www.combofix.org and follow the steps:
1. Click on the small download not the large one
2. Click on the Combofix link at the bottom and you can also get malwarebytes here as well.
3. It will open a link to bleepingcomputer.com where you can scroll down a little ways and click on the bleeping computer link and then save it as combo to your desktop.
4. I always reboot to safe mode without networking and then run it. You do not need to download the microsoft thing when it gives you a warning just click no and run it.
As this runs you may think it is stalled but do not reboot your pc until the etxt file shows up ok it normally takes 15 to 30 minutes to run it's course depending on the infection.
5. If you have any questions PM and I will send you my phone number.
6. The only thing you may have to do is reset you homepages if you open multiple tabs, not a big thing though imho

+ 1 on Combofix. IMHO, it is the best bot exterminator available. Additionally, AVG is a better AV software than Microsoft. It catches more bugs, but more importantly, it doesn't constantly prompt you to buy the upgrades like Norton or MS.
Im pretty sure its botnet crap cause one of my friends sent me a link (it wasnt him) and i opened it, now emails are being sent from my email to my friends with that same link and then its happening to them. Then there was an article on the news about how there is a botnet virus going through emails and how one in 4 people have it so if its not a botnet its something else crappy, thanks for the help guys
