At least five time last year I sold at the market a pen that I had made within the previous week. Same thing happened to me this past Sunday. I sold two pens I finished on Saturday and one I had completed about two weeks before. Anyone else had this experience?

I'm always grateful for a sale, but sure would like to get rid of some of the older pens in my inventory.

Probably yes to both questions in previous posts. Not that my earlier pens are pieces of crap. They're not. I also sold two pens that I made at least 18 months ago. I'm also not conscious of displaying the new pens any more prominently.

Is it the same crowd every week? Do they remember the pens that they have "already seen"?

Do you buff and shine ALL your pens every week? (I know I sure did NOT). So, the older ones don't look as "shiny"??

I have had a similar sales experiences. Until recently, I have had a sales partner, and about twice a month I would find myself remarking "I just made that one yesterday", (or this week, etc). In part, these newly made pens were replacements for sold items, and so some of these "just Made" ones were good sellers, selling good again.:highfive::smile::smile:

A mixture, Ed. I sold one of the new pens to a repeat gawker. (Finally hooked him). I don't remember having seen the other two customers before. Never wipe them down before a show. Only after someone who has been eating Kettle Corn handles them.

We tend to have the opposite experience.

On day one of a show, a certain pen will have a strong showing selling out all of it's backstock. We will stay up super late that night making replacements to take advantage of the demand. Those perfectly awesome pens will fail to sell on day.

I am guilty of carrying a "new" make around and showing it, but then having a few sitting back home. I generally remember some of those, and use them, oh I have a blank with this and that color I can do for you; do you want to put a downpayment on it??? That actually works quiet well.
