How do you finish colorwood? Is there a certain type of finish for gloss to use.?

colorwood? Are you asking about dyed wood or stabilized dyed, the colored pine/aspen/others from tswood. I have worked with all of those and have still done a CA finish.

You can use about any finish on it. I have used friction polish, CA, Deft, and poly - they all will work. Colorwood, while looking like Dymondwood, is softer. I have found that it does need more than one coat of finish since the first coat will be absorbed. The CA required the fewest coats and should work pretty good if you are finishing items without lots of detail. I am sure there are others with more knowledge that might be able to help you more.

i found out upon doing so that micro mesh doesn't work on these. I have had the colors distorted and black marks appear. Has any one else had thi sproplem?

I haven't tried Micro Mesh on it, but have had no problems with sandpaper or grit mesh.
