Just wondering what is the prevailing thought - to choose a color of blank that is a contrast to the main pen kit color or one that compliments it. For example, I have a kit that is mainly gunmetal. A silver/black mix of acrylic would go well with it, but there are contrasting blanks such as purple heart that would also make a nice pen.

Thoughts?

I'm in the complimentary camp.
Gunmetal is neutral. Pair with anything.
Gold is warm. Pair with a warm color, red etc.
Chrome is cool. Pair with blues etc.

I'm in the Yes camp--I do both at different times, depending on what catches my eye at the moment. I spent an hour this morning trying to get happy with what to pair with rose gold. When I turn it tomorrow, i'll learn whether I made a good choice.

I don't think about it that way. I just find a blank that I think looks good with the style of pen and plating. I don't think about if it compliments or contrasts. If I like it, I like it.
