OK guys, thanks for the input. Since I first asked this question it happened to me two more times during the course of making 8 pen/pencil sets. Only this time I was much more attentive. First, I was using BOW. I found that this clouding happened on the very first application of the CA and I applied activator. The activator wasn't even dry yet before the CA clouded up. Thats how fast it happened. On the first one I had to sand it away but I found that it wasn't all that deep. The second time it happened was also with the first wipe of CA and activator only that time I took a clean rag and rubbed the blank as it was turning @1500rpm and also put a little more pressure on the rag than usual but not hard enough to burn. Anyway, that particular cloud went right away with the rag and I simply continued.
So, I suppose this hasn't turned out to be too much of a problem if it cures that easily. I do recall one time when I was first learning how to do this that my entire finish had clouded within the CA after letting it dry over night. That one had to get sanded all the way down but it never happende again. So, maybe this is a whole bunch of words for not much of a problem but I still have to wonder exactly what caused it. With all the different options you guys gave I may never know exactly. lol
Thanks though,
Mike
