I have a couple of pens that have developed cloudy spots more than a month after the pens were made. One is a pink ivory pen and the other is african blackwood. Any idea what causes these cloudy spots and how I can avoid it?

I should mention that the spots are below the surface of the finish.

I don't use BLO with my CA finish. I use 5 to 7 coats of thin CA. Then 5 to 7 coats of medium CA. Sand with micro mesh. Buff with white diamond and polish with renwax.

Is it possible the wood wasn't dry?

That was my first thought, but I know they were both dry when I applied the finish. I suppose it is possible that the ends didn't get sealed properly. If that is the case, I suppose they could have absorbed some moisture.

The show I did this weekend was in a large room and the temps were much colder than I would have liked. Could it be condensation from absorbed moisture?
