Got my new pin chuck from Rick, so I made a closed end pen today. It's walnut, maple, and honey mesquite. The finial is walnut, but I need to redo it cause I messed it up a bit.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it - it's my first closed other than slims, and my first replaced finial.

Hey Dean, closed end is fairly easy, but that segmenting is SUPER!!!! Nice job.

What is that stuff you used............WOOD??????

WOW!!

Addictive, that's what closed end stuff is....addictive!

Liking the shape, and timbers used!

Scott (gonna do another tomorrow?) B

Dean,

This is a sweet...for your first one it looks very well done. My pin chucks arrived the other day as well, but I want to try out some scrap wood first to try a shape and see how they work...now that I see yours I can't wait.

Ed - yes WOOD - I know the concept messes with a bit :)
Scott - yes - I hope to get in the shop tomorrow. (Thinking of maybe a zen similar to this)
Tim - I have you to thank for NOT just doing this in a plain material :) Your segmenting has me a bit envious.

I have done closed end before, but they were all slim lines. I like the look of the bigger ones better.

I do really like the pin chuck - I may have to have rick make me some more sizes! :)
