Are there any 'click' pen kits with a tactile click? meaning they click on push and release like a standard (plastic ) pen?

Not sure what you mean by "tactile".

I don't like the Long Clicker referred to by stuckinohio because they are a bit rough in their operation (extend and retract) and also a little noisy ... not at all smooth.

I too am looking for click pens that are smooth and reliable (not the PSI products) and I don't like the style of the Sierra-like clickers.

But I am not trying to hijack your thread !!!!!

I like the Wall Street II and the Vertex click pens. They both have that nice feel when you click them. Plus they are fairly easy to build.

I prefer the softer clicks but agree the long click (like the "Clicker" from CSUSA) is among the best with a "tactile" click. I just loved (not) enduring a long meeting with someone sitting at the table endlessly rattling away with one of those! Ah, yes, retirement is sweet.

Vertex Click is smooth and silent. It is a possibility for you?

My thoughts on the vertex are this:

I have made probably 50 vertex and stratus pens. The click mechanism is super soft and feels pretty good, but it is very susceptible to problems and malfunctions. You have to insert a nail or toothpick into the top of the clicker where the clicker button threads onto to keep the plastic from breaking when dropped. Once you do that, when the pen is dropped after the reinforcement it jams up the click mechanism terribly and is hard/impossible to repair.

I quit making them. Yes, I know that if someone drops the pen and breaks it, it shouldn't be my responsibility to repair, but these are going to my friends and co-workers, so I fix for free.
