We've removed the classifieds rule that prohibited additional items from being included in followup postings. Sellers had made the point that their allowed followup posts would be much more valuable to them and more useful to potential buyers if they could add additional items beyond that listed in the original post.

The existing rule says:
Seller Followup Postings: Sellers are entitled to make a limited number of followup posts each day as described below for each forum. These can be used to add additional information, list remaining items or note that something is sold, and should be somewhat more substantial than "bump". Seller followups may not include additional photos or list additional items for sale.

The revised rule says:
Seller Followup Postings: Sellers are entitled to make a limited number of followup posts as described below for each forum. These can be used, for example, to add additional information about the items for sale, list additional items for sale, or summarize which items have already been claimed. Followup postings may include additional photos, if the number of photos permitted for the thread has not been reached.

Ok, question ... say I have 5 items listed in a classified ad ... I sold those 5 items ... are we allowed to swap those 5 items out with new items and replace the old photos with new photos? Just want to get it straight.

That would require deleting the first photos.

I doubt that anything that deletes is allowed, since IAP is trying to maintain a historical reference in the event there is a dispute.

Certainly Jeff or Curtis can answer this definitively, but that is the sense I have of one of the purposes of the ad policy.

From the way I read it you cannot delete your existing but you can post more in a "Post" on the thread and add pics as longs as you do not go above the limit of 10 photos total.

No you cannot. You can add items in followup postings.

From the rules:

Editing Your Original Post: You have the ability to edit your post for two weeks after the original post time. Do not substantially change it. Do not add or delete significant amounts of text, add additional items, or remove or completely replace photos. You may add photos in the original post if you did not originally include the number allowed, and you may replace photos after adding an "X" to indicate sold items (generally used only for blank sales). You may edit the original post text to indicate an item or lot is sold, and you may reduce the price for items or lots. (Note: Editing your post to indicate it is closed is a courtesy to buyers, it is not a substitute for following the closure process described below.)

You are permitted to add additional photos in the original post if you like, but that's intended to enable you to provide additional details for the items you've listed, not to add items.

The previous members that have posted are correct. The rule is that you still cannot significantly alter your initial post. The change is that you can add pictures to the thread, not remove existing ones. You have the ability to spread out your pictures over the posts/time in the ads vs having to have put them all in the initial ad.
