Well, this has some history to it! This tree was about 70 years old. This blank came from the tree where it was about 20 years old. Someone had put a nail in it. The nail was overgrown by the tree. We did remove the nail, but this is the aftermath of that nail. Kinda cool.

Good for you, finding it the easy way . The ones I found in walnut years ago (the hard way) were not so willing to advertise their presence .

We found plenty the wrong way. After the initial cuts, we tried our best to work around them... ended up losing some good pieces because of them things.
