I'm 50+ years into tinkering with instruments - great fun - and really nice acoustic variety since I broke away from traditional (and expensive toxic-turning) blackwood woodwind parts.
Very nice work. I know nothing about musical instruments so I will have to defer on that. What did jump out at me is your choice of cutter in the bell. That would not have been my choice. You have probably got a feel for it so it is the tool of your choice but makes me sit here hoping you do not get a catch.
Good luck and happy turning and thanks for showing.
John - I see what you mean about tool preference - I do use various tools to rough out, but gravitate back towards carbides for the fussy interior work.
I'm enjoying these guys - segmented bell in the center inspired by the look of the booster rockets in the early space program - hard maple + purple heart - also showing purple heart and zebra barrels.
Playing mostly dance and small group jazz lately, so these do draw some eyes.
