Got a early Christmas present today from my lovely wife she asked to go to a store she likes just north of us so after letting her shop (I stayed in the truck I know that could of been dangerous) she had the card. She said ok since I tortured you let stop by woodcraft I like looking for a good buy on some wood for scroll sawing some desk sets she pulled a quick one on me and I didn't even know it.
Found a couple really nice pieces of maple and red oak headed home and kinda complained about some stuff she bought another pair of shoes and a few other things how many pair of shoes does a person need. Got home got the dog out and she said can you please grab my bag out of the truck in back again why did you put stuff back there and I got the look head held low I opened the tail gate and sitting in the bed was a brand new rikon lathe the one I have been looking at for months I guess I'll be eating crow for awhile and I won't complain about shoes for awhile.

Time to invest in a purse hanger kit and some very pretty blanks ... maybe some seam rippers for her knitting circle? :)

Nice present from your wife. Now you have to find here something as nice if possible.
Of course, there is always a trip some place warm this winter.

It does seem to get harder each year to find that 'perfect' surprise for the ladies.
Getting within 60 days and still have no idea what mine wants/needs.
Treasure that one you have there. She is a keeper.

What a GREAT Present and wonderful surprise.

Thanks everybody she is wonderful she has already made her list for christmas alot of pink camouflage she dosen't hunt but shure liks it last year she wanted a certain pair of shoes of course it took me a full month to find somebody that had them.
She keeps me going I owe her alot for were I am today I try to treat her special when I can being a cancer survivor and surviving one other health scare.
I make pens she request to show people but I gotta get her to sell them she wants to hang on to them and have me make one for who ever wants one I enjoy making them she is a ( pen thief she so bad she took her doctors pen before she went into surgery) she does ask first if she can have them.

Those things are like pedigree pets. You just think they are expensive to buy until you try to start feeding them. Then you find out how cheap they were.

Nice surprise! I have the smaller Rikon 70-100 and I love it. Turn some nice wood handles to epoxy over the handles on the banjo, tailstock, and tailstock crank. They make it much easier to lock things down and adjust your tailstock.

It's a shame there is only so many pens a lady needs!

Finally got to use the new lathe made a pen for my father he has arthrites bad in his hands and it hard for him to hold smaller pens I gave him one of these pens awhile back and he requested another sorry for the poor pic still working on getting the right stuff to due a better job its in Detroit Tiger colors well pretty close any ways.
The lathe is alot smoother and alot quietier than my old one still have to get use to the controls for locking stuff down but really like it.
