Here's a quick and easy chip cover for a Taig lathe. When I started using the easy wood tools rougher, I found that it spray chips sideways quite a distance. This reduces the amount of mess. It's just a Sterilite box, with a hole cut in the front to put the tool through. I can't get my hands in close enough for the finishing cuts, but it sure cuts down on the mess while roughing!

What about heat buildup on the motor, but I guess using a carbide tool things get cut pretty fast, so you don't have the motor running very long any way, Nice idea.

Benton,

This is a small pic of my Taig showing the shield I fitted to protect the motor, works for me, easy to place a vac extraction somewhere as well.

The mod winder was a 35mm projector stem in another life. I was working with cartridge pens at the time and I made the brass live centre as well.

Have fun with your Taig I do.

Kind regards Peter.
