Picked this wood up yesterday--- it's Cherry root.
I couldn't stand it so ---off to the shop.
I know it's just a slim-line but it's a cherry.

The big plus is that cherry is like fine wine, it gets better in time. [:)]

Nice, I can almost see the chatoyance on your pic and the finish looks excellent too.

Very nice pen. I'd like to see a CB of holly, blackwood, or something else contrasting. I guess I'm just partial to home made CBs. You did a very nice job with this one though. I wouldn't mind running into some of that root either. I bet there is some left at my church, where they are digging up a bunch for a new building. I built my entertainment wall unit out of cherry and it is still darkening, two years later. I also love the way cherry turns. It's what I cut my teeth on (first turned wood). I later learned not to use my teeth on the lathe.[:D]

BigRob cherry just keeps getting darker if it gets much sunlight. I make and sell several pens a year and these pens are my best sellers. I have no ideal why folks like the band but that's what they want.
