Well, my wife went to Kmart tonight and came home with (among other things) an MP3 player for me. I had told her I could use one while I was out plowing. It gets kind of boring sometimes.

Anyway, wow! She found this little player on sale for $9.99
2Gb and it includes a charger and ear-buds. This little thing is pretty cool.

I used Real Player and converted all my videos to MP3's and dropped them on the player in 9 minutes. Now I'm mobile... I wish I had one of these years ago. Now I have no less than 5 hours of -no commercial- mostly 80's heavy metal music. Hope the battery lasts that long...

That's all. just wanted to say "I love this little toy." It's about 1" x 1 1/2". I can clip it on my collar and go. Too cool.

Just need to find some more of my favorite stuff.

I usually adore any mobile music device ever since I got my hands on my first cassette playing Walkman. And fell back in love with it after figuing out how to record over tapes I didn't want for my own mix. Mp3 players are a godsend for people like me whose taste is miles away from the mainstream 90 some odd percent of the time. You'll want one with more storage capacity very, very soon. I found 4 gigs was too small after a couple of months.

The one my daughter got for Christmas has 8Gb, but she stores movies and a lot of her favorite videos. I'm only doing music. It's true, Bigger is better..... But I'm psyched at $9.99

Anyone ever had a player go bad? Does it just stop playing or are there other signs?

A hair under 10 bucks is a sweet price even if it doesn't live too long. I'm not too worried about movies on mine. It's hard enough to keep the battery alive long enough as it is. You can also get different accessories to play it in the car. I have a cassette player in my truck and a $10 adapter lets me play both of my Mp3 players through the cassette deck. Makes trips through "The radio is terrible" land easier to swallow. And you can just set the Mp3 player to Random and Repeat All and scan using the track forward button without taking your eyes off the road.

I was right there with you until you said that bit about heavy metal.... ;-)

Guess I'm showing my age. Yeah, I'm still stuck in the 80's to early 90's in regards to my most favorite music. Don't get me wrong I like some of the newer stuff. Mostly the "heavier" rock, some techno. Not much in the way of country or dance music. No Blues, ballads or orchestra's.

Rippin' guitar and a drum beat that kicks. I'm all good.

I just watched some of my stored videos. OK, Shania Twain! I can handle her... The black leather suit she is wearing in "You Win My Love" That's pretty close to heavy metal.

Have a great weekend..

That's funny..

I'm sure the "newness" will wear off, but it sure is a convenient little unit.

Anyone know if there is a tighter compression than MP3? I'm researching it, but I thought I'd throw that out there too.

My son gave me something like that. I could not figure out how to work it, so it sits in my desk.
You inspire me to dig it out. I remember it being Apple based for some reason.
