Caught a break today

First time I've ever experienced kickback on the table saw. Am lucky I wasn't standing behind the blade directly. This is the divot the wood left in the wall behind me when it flew off the saw. (It was a tiny piece of wood—about 2 inch square and 1/4 inch thick.) Stay safe, folks.

It's so amazing how quickly things like that happen. Sure am glad you're ok. Have you figured out what might have gone wrong?

Yeah. Am almost certain I was ripping with the fence a piece that should have been cross at because it was wider than it was long.
