Okay this is new territory for me and I have no idea which is which and what advantages (or disadvantage) each may have over the other.

In my short stroll at Michael's and Hobby Lobby there are some that are 2 part and some just have a catalyst that you apply a drop or 2...I am swimming in too much info that i cannot relate too yet.

Anyone know a good place for me to start reading about these stuff? [B)]...something like "Casting for Dummies"? :D LOL

Thanks!!!

Chcek the IAP library for any articles. Start with the 2005 list and read "Casting Polyester Resin" by Jay Pickens....the 11th article down. Then read the one by Anthony Turchetta in the same list...#2 I think and then read the first one in the 2005 list on "Preparing Parts for Embedding in Polyester Resin" also by Jay Pickens. Those three will get you started. Jay also has posted a new PR article at http://www.penmakersguild.com

I have been buying polyester resin from http://www.mrfiberglass.com which is much cheaper than purchasing from Hobby Lobby or Michaels. http://www.artstuf.com is another good place to shop, but their resin prices are a bit higher.

Curtis had problems with PR and the cactus skeletons. I'm not sure why but I suspect it was the colorant he was using. I use colorant from both artstuf and from mrfiberglass...theirs is made for casting resin. BUT, I have also used India ink with great success...less success with acrylic paint and artists paint. Good luck and ask more questions if you need to.
do a good turn daily!
