Does anybody know of blank casting molds for 7mm blanks? Everywhere I check, I get an out of stock message.:frown::frown: I need to cast a few 7mm blanks with digital camo for a Army sergeant for Xmas.

I have the blanks made up, if I can't find a mold, do any of you have any suggestions on how to do it?

Thanks

Kevin

Aquarium filter tubing and rubber stoppers from Lowes. It stands upright which makes it easy to work out the bubbles and I reuse them over and over. Cut the tubing to length and I cut it long ways to release the cast. I use scotch tape to reseal the tube to pour. I use press and seal food wrap to cover the plugs. A 1 inch plug to seal the tubing with a smaller plug glued on top to seal the pen tube. Also use the same size plug to seal the top of the pen tube for a compleate cast of the pen tube. Use elec.tape to seal the bottom of the aqu. tubing to the 1 inch plug. pour the resin let set and unwrap the tape to start turning your pen. I hope I made myself clear enough to understand but if you have any questions let me know. Good Luck.

If you're going to pour resin, you can use 3/4" PVC pipe cut to 5" or so. Tape up one end really good and you have a cheap vertical mold.

If you want a horizontal mold, you can cut up a polypropylene cutting board into 1" strips and make a mold out of that. Either clamp or screw it all together and pour away.

Or you can use a cutting board, sign material or cardboard assembled with hot glue to make a mold. Pour your stuff, drill and assemble at your leasure.

Our library is a wonderful place to find out all kinds of info.

And there are several articles for just casting. Several cover casting embedded stuff like you are doing. Have fun reading.
Do a good turn daily!

Hi Kevin,
Have you found a mold yet?
I have an extra ice cube mold. It is the one where the cavity is vertical and it has a blue lid on the bottom so you can push the blanks out when they are set. It is yours for postage if you want it.
Let me know

Alice
